Not Again: Boeing B787 Dreamliner Deliveries Halted Due To “Fuselage Issues”

This is not good news for airline customers waiting for Boeing B787 Dreamliners. Once again, Boeing has suspended the 787 deliveries.

Boeing B787 Deliveries Suspended Again

Boeing is having a hard time delivering the B787s as it has again suspended the deliveries of B787 due to another issue with the aircraft’s fuselage component. The company is stating this issue as an “Analysis error” and poses no safety concern for the active fleets.

With the surface of the newest issue, the manufacturer cannot deliver the new B787s unless the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is satisfied with the result. Boeing has issued a statement:

“In reviewing certification records, Boeing discovered an analysis error by our supplier related to the 787 forward pressure bulkhead. We notified the FAA and have paused 787 deliveries while we complete the required analysis and documentation.”

The company also added that:

“There is no immediate safety of flight concern for the in-service fleet. We are communicating with our customers and will continue to follow the lead of the FAA. While near-term deliveries will be impacted, at this time we do not anticipate a change to our production and delivery outlook for the year.”

It is known that the forward pressure bulkhead component had an analysis error by the supplier.

Boeing B787s Delivery Suspensions

Boeing has continuously halted its B787 deliveries due to production flaws and the company’s inspection methods and it was until last August that their suspension was lifted. However, the FAA seems not satisfied with the result and reissued the delivery suspension to not allow Boeing to self-certify the B787 assembly.

It has been a roller coaster of events for Boeing to get their aircraft certified as the company faced multiple fatal crashes with MAX 8 aircraft past few years.

Summary

Boeing has again suspended the deliveries of the B787 Dreamliners. This time the company is stating that an “Analysis error” on the fuselage is causing the issue. The FAA has now been involved and until Boeing gives an answer, the B787 deliveries will be halted.

This is definitely upsetting news for airline customers who rely on B787s as this will impact their operation.
