Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan program is my favorite Oneworld program in terms of redeeming miles on partner airlines. And this week the program has returned with its first promotion of 2023 offering bonuses on miles purchased.
Buy Alaska Mileage Plan Miles With Up To A 60% Bonus

Through February 20, 2023, Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan is offering up to a 60% bonus when buying miles. It is believed that different bonus offers are targeted to different Mileage Plan members so it is best to check out your account on how much bonus you will get.
Based on my account I received the 60% bonus miles offer:
- Buy 3,000-19,000 miles and get a 40% bonus miles
- Buy 20,000-39,000 miles and get a 50% bonus miles
- Buy 40,000-100,000 miles and a 60% bonus miles
With this promotion, you have to buy a minimum of 3,000 miles in order to get a bonus.
How Many Miles Can Mileage Plan Members Buy
Most airline program limits the miles that can be purchased in a calendar year. Some may limit up to 100,000, and frequent flyer programs like Avianca LifeMiles or Air Canada’s Aeroplan lets members purchase up to 200,000 and 500,000 miles each.
However, in the case of the Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan, as a non-Elite Member, they may only be credited up to a maximum total of 150,000 miles whether purchased or gifted. And bonus miles do not count toward the maximum total of 150,000 miles.
On the other hand, Mileage Plan MVP, MVP Gold, MVP Gold 75K and MVP Gold 100K Mileage Plan members have no annual limit on the number of miles which may be purchased or gifted.
Keep in mind that Mileage Plan sells up to 100,000 miles per single transaction so if you need to buy more miles, you would need to make another transaction.

How Much Mileage Plan Miles Cost
Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan sells miles at US$27.50 before taxes at a block of 1,000 miles. The miles can be purchased in increments of 1,000 miles up to 60,000 miles, and in increments of 5,000 miles up to a maximum of 100,000 miles per transaction.
With the 60% bonus promotion, it will cost US$2956.25 for 160,000 miles. So each mile comes with a cost of US$0.0184.

Redeeming Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan Miles
The Mileage Plan program has 21 airline partners where you can redeem. Since Alaska Airlines joined the Oneworld alliance, you can now miles on most of the Oneworld partners plus select airlines from different alliances (Korean Air and Singapore Airlines).
Mileage Plan usually offered great award value on Cathay Pacific or Japan Airlines first class. I once redeemed 75,000 miles on Japan Airlines first and business class from India to New York. Or redeem 70,000 miles on American Airlines Flagship First from Los Angeles to Hong Kong.

Furthermore, the program offers a free stopover with any additional miles, even on partners. These generous policies made the Mileage Plan program on top of my list to redeem on partners.
Mileage Plan also does not impose surcharges on most of its partners except Hainan Airlines, IcelandAir and British Airways.

Summary
Through February 20, 2023, Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan is offering up to a 60% bonus on purchased miles. With this promotion, you can buy points for US$0.0184 each. This first promotion of 2023 is considered one of the best offers so far so if you have travel plans coming up, I would recommend buying extra miles at great rates.
