While this is not the best British Airways buy Avios promotion compared to previous promotions, it is still a good deal if you need extra Avios for short-term usage.
Buy British Airways Avios With A 40% Bonus
Through September 20, 2023, the British Airways Executive Club is offering a 40% bonus on purchased or gifted Avios. With a minimum of 2,000 Avios purchased in a single transaction, you will receive an extra 40% Avios on top of your purchases.
Not only you are able to get a 40% bonus when buying, but also able to receive a bonus when gifting Avios. Gifting Avios refers to purchasing Avios for someone else who is an Executive Club member. Then that member will be eligible to receive the 40% bonus.
How Many Avios Can You Purchase
Generally, members can purchase up to 100,000 Avios per calendar year but during this week’s promotion, members are able to buy up to 200,000 Avios before any bonuses. This means you are able to buy and get up to 280,000 Avios during this offer.
British Airways Avios Pricing
Purchasing British Airways Avios is a straightforward process however there is one catch regarding the final amount that each individual person needs to pay. Strangely, the final amount of the bill is different depending on where you are living.
During this promotion, if you max out the 200,000 Avios, it will cost as follows:
- Accounts registered in the UK will pay GBP3,539 equivalent to ~US$4,418
- Accounts registered in the EU will pay EUR4,245 equivalent to ~US$4,556
- Accounts registered in the US will pay US$4,599
Given the strength of the US dollar, the pricing is quite a hefty pricing for those who reside in the US compared to those who are in the UK or the EU. Here is the detailed pricing chart for purchased Avios.
For this bonus Avios promotion, members can purchase between 1.58 cents to 1.64 cents per Avios. I value Avios around 1.3 to 1.5 cents each so those who are in the UK have the best rate per Avios.
Redeeming British Airways Avios
Avios is a valuable currency and one of my favorites to redeem on Oneworld flights. The best thing about Avios currency is that four airlines adopt Avios and you can also transfer between British Airways Avios to the other partners free of charge.
Since I mostly fly with Qatar Airways, I can simply transfer the purchased Avios and redeem them on Qatar Airways Qsuites which cost 40,250 Avios one-way from Doha to Europe (Platinum Tier-based). That’s about 7 flights in business class with the cost of $3,800.

Through September 20, 2023, British Airways Executive Club is selling Avios with a 40% bonus. During this promotion, you can purchase up to 280,000 Avios at a rate as low as 1.58 cents per Avios depending on where you reside.
The bonus offer for this period is not in line with the best offer however, I still find it valuable for those who have plans to redeem Avios in a short period of time.
