JetBlue has launched its first buy points promotion of 2023. However, the offer itself is not a lucrative deal to catch my attention given that the TrueBlue program is revenue based.
Buy JetBlue TrueBlue Points With Up To 60% Bonus
Through February 24, 2023, JetBlue’s TrueBlue program is offering up to a 60% bonus when purchasing points.
It appears that different TrueBlue members are targeted for different types of promotions as Ben from Onemileatatime received a 40% discount offer. It is best to check your TrueBlue account to find out which promotion you have received.
With this promotion, members are able to receive bonus miles in tiers:
- Buy 3,000 – 14,500 points, and receive a 20% Bonus
- Buy 15,000 – 29,500 points, and receive a 40% Bonus
- Buy 30,000 – 50,000 points, and receive a 60% Bonus
How Many TrueBlue Points Can You Purchase
JetBlue limits point purchases to up to 120,000 points per calendar year and during this promotion, it lets purchase per transaction for 50,000 points. So in order to buy the maximum amount of points, you would need multiple transactions.
How Much Do JetBlue TrueBlue Point Cost
The program generally sells a block of 1,000 points for approximately US$37.73. The rate changes as you buy more points. So for this promotion, if you maxed out the single transaction, you would receive 80,000 points for US$1,478.13 including taxes. This will give you a rate of 1.8 cents per point.
Is Buying TureBlue Points Worth The Money
In my opinion, purchasing a lot of TrueBlue points does not generate great value for it. As its award redemption points are used as revenue, you can redeem the points at approximately 1.5 cents each.
This means you can redeem 80,000 points for US$1,200 worth of value. This is already a minus as you purchased the points for nearly US$1,500. Of course, there are certain situations where the points purchased as useful too.
The only time I see buying TureBlue points worth is when you need extra points in order to purchase an award ticket. But other than that, purchasing a whole block of points is not a wise decision for the JetBlue program.
Summary
Through February 24, 2023, the JetBlue TrueBlue program is offering up to a 60% bonus on points purchased. This offer gives you the potential to buy points for 1.8 cents however, based on the program’s revenue-based redemption system, I cannot say this is a good deal to take advantage of.
