United Airlines MileagePlus program launched its latest buy points promotion where different members are entitled to different offers: Bonuses or discounts.
Buy MileagePlus Miles With Up To 100% Bonus Or 50% Discount
Through June 18, 2023, United MileagePlus members purchasing miles will either receive up to a 100% bonus or a 50% discount. In order to know which offer you received, it is best to check your account.
The latest buy miles promotion is in line with the best offer it has launched so you can purchase miles at the lowest value per mile.
How Much Does MileagePlus Miles Cost With Bonus
With the 100% bonus promotion I received, I am able to purchase up to 175,000 miles for US$3,292.19 including taxes and fees. This will give you a rate of 1.88 cents per mile which is half the usual price.
Those who receive the 50% discount will have the same final price too.
United Airlines’ MileagePlus limits the maximum number of miles purchased to 175,000 miles per calendar year in which the bonus is included. So even with the 100% bonus promotion, the maximum amount of miles members can buy is 87,500 miles.
Redeeming United MileagePlus Miles
With the United MileagePlus program’s recent worldwide devaluation, the value of redemption just dropped to the bottom as it has increased award pricing between 21% to 122%. Basically with the exception of US Domestic awards, the majority of the international routes are increased.
Here are some of the example:
- A one-way Business Class from the US to Japan on United has now increased from 70,000 miles to 100,000 miles
- A one-way Business Class from the US to Japan on ANA has now increased from 88,000 miles to 110,000 miles
- A one-way Business Class from the US to Europe has now increased from 60,000 miles to over 100,000 miles.
United’s partner frequent flyer programs such as Avianca LifeMiles or Air Canada Aeroplan charge less than half of what MileagePlus offer therefore, I would consider and compare the pricing before purchasing the miles.
