United Airlines MileagePlus is back with another buy miles promotion this month. Historically, United Airlines has been offering bonuses on miles purchased every month and recently it frequently offered a 100% bonus.
Buy United MileagePlus Miles With A 50% Discount
Through November 26, 2022, members purchasing MileagePlus miles will receive the following discounts:
- Purchasing between 3,000-19,000 miles, you’ll receive a 20% discount
- Purchasing between 20,000-59,000 miles, you’ll receive a 35% discount
- Purchasing between 60,000-175,000 miles, you’ll receive a 50% discount
Different discounts are targeted for each member so you would need to log in to your account to check your discounts. But for now, I am seeing 30% as the lowest discount given out.
United Airlines’ MileagePlus caps the maximum number of miles purchased to 175,000 per calendar year including bonuses.
How Much Does The United MileagePlus Miles Cost With Discounts
With the current 50% discount, members are able to purchase up to 175,000 miles for US$3,292.19 including taxes and fees. This is 1.88 cents per mile which is half the usual price.
To be honest, the previous 100% bonus promotion and the current promotion have no difference as you can buy the same number of miles at the same rate.
Redeeming United MileagePlus Miles
United MileagePlus program is one of the most used programs to earn and redeem flights. However, there is no published award chart so members have to access the United’s website to check individually.
From time to time, MileagePlus has good redemption deals, especially on one-way awards. For example:
- A one-way from New York to London cost as low as 60,000 miles on United Airlines.
- A one-way flight from New York to the EU costs around 77,000 miles on partners.
- One-way from the US to Japan cost as low as 70,000 miles on United Airlines.
- A one-way flight from the US to Japan cost around 88,000 miles on Star Alliance partners.

Through November 26, 2022, United Airlines’ MileagePlus program is offering up to a 50% discount on purchased miles. Though the exact discount rates are different for each member, so I would advise you to log in and check your accounts.
With this promotion, members can buy miles at a rate of US$0.0188 each. I value MileagePlus at 1.29 cents per mile so the offer does not stand up to my level but I wouldn’t buy whole load of United miles as there are better programs that offer better promotions.
