Taiwan’s flagship carrier, China Airlines has revealed its latest new livery on one of its Airbus A321neo. The new livery will be called “Pikachu Jet CI” and will be the first of its kind for the Taipei-based airline.

On September 28, 2022, China Airlines unveiled the company’s first-ever Pokémon liveried aircraft on its Airbus A321neo which is the first A321neo it received. Back in July 2022, China Airlines officially joined the “Pokémon Air Adventures” of The Pokémon Company.

Susumu Fukunaga, Corporate Officer of The Pokémon Company, said:
“The COVID-19 pandemic has dealt a devastating blow to the tourism and transportation industry. With the pandemic now slowing down, The Pokémon Company is launching “Pokémon Air Adventures” to reignite everyone’s passion for travel. He hopes that the partnership between The Pokémon Company and public transport, local governments and businesses will encourage people to explore the world once more.”
China Airlines President Kao Shing-Hwang said:
“The mission of “Pokémon Air Adventures” also matched the ESG sustainability philosophy of China Airlines. The first-ever collaboration between the two companies has been two years in the making and the launch of an aircraft with Pokémon-themed livery to inject extra fun into the journey. One of China Airlines’ new A321neo passenger aircraft has been chosen for the job and its new livery should be finished and ready to meet all Pokémon fans by autumn this year. “Pikachu Jet CI” will hopefully help spur the revival of post-COVID tourism and encourage everyone to look forward to their next holiday. “
The new livery harmonizes with China Airlines’ corporate colors and the plum blossom logo on the tail-fin. By utilizing 36 different types of paint, the fuselage features a pastel gradient with orange, pink and violet to present a starry night sky with dawn approaching. It is dubbed the most colorful livery’ in the history of China Airlines.

China Airlines’ Pokémon Air Adventures
On September 30, China Airlines organized a charity flight where the 80 limited-edition seats were sold out in just nine minutes. The flight flew from Taoyuan International Airport to Japan’s southern coast before returning to Taipei’s Songshan Airport.
The Pikachu Jet CI was displayed at Songshan Airport for one day on October 1 and on October 2, the aircraft will see its first flight on the Taipei (Songshan) – Tokyo (Haneda) route.




On board the A321neo, there will be Pokémon-themed supplies: From themed amenities to meals. There will also be 10 selected Pokémon shows available on the inflight entertainment system and special merchandise can be pre-purchased and collected on board.
Taiwan’s Flagship Carrier’s Special Liveries
Back in 2013, a long time before China Airlines Pokémon liveried aircraft was introduced, the Taipei-based competitor, EVA Air, also revealed Hello Kitty-themed liveries on some of its fleet.
