Yesterday, I wrote a post on Qatar Airways and Virgin Australia officially announcing a new strategic partnership between the two airlines, offering more routes for travelers within Australia and the rest of the world.
And celebrating this new partnership, Qatar Airways Privilege Club members are entitled to earn double Avios when booking and flying with any Virgin Australia through December 6, 2022.
Double Avios Bonus On Virgin Australia
To take advantage of this promotion, you must book the flights and travel between September 6 and December 6. There are some terms and conditions to follow:
- This offer is only applicable to Privilege Club’s main members.
- Members will earn bonus Avios over the base Avios earned on Virgin Australia flights during the offer period. Any other promotional bonus Avios will not be considered in the calculation of the offer bonus.
- Tier bonus, family accrued Avios and other promotional bonuses will not be considered for the calculation of bonus Avios.
- Bonus Avios are calculated based on the combination of booking date, flight date, cabin and booking class.
- Qualifying eligible flights must be marketed by Virgin Australia and/or operated by either of the two airlines or marketed by Qatar Airways and operated by Virgin Australia.
- Members will earn Qpoints only on Virgin Australia flights that are marketed by Qatar Airways.
- Bonus Avios will be awarded based on the booking class purchased.
- The offer is applicable only for Privilege Club members traveling on Virgin Australia flights.
If you look at the terms and conditions, the flight MUST be marketed by Qatar Airways and operated by Virgin Atlantic. Meaning, that you must purchase a ticket from Qatar Airways website to be eligible for the double Avios promotion.
The exact accrual can be calculated at Qcalculator but I can see Virgin Australia is still not added to the system.
Redeem Qatar Airways Avios On Virgin Australia
As of now, Virgin Australia is still not redeemable solely on Australian Domestic routes on the Qatar Airways website. But Qatar Airways uses a distance-based award chart so you can manually calculate how much Avios may be needed.
Summary
Through December 6, Qatar Airways is offering Double Avios when booking and flying Virgin Australia. Keep in mind that the flight must be marketed by Qatar Airways in order to take benefit of double Avios.
