Air France-KLM’s Flying Blue program has launched its latest buy miles promotion which is offering a good value per point. This time different members are targeted with different offers: Bonus or discount – so you must log in to your account to check which offer you have received.
Buy Flying Blue Miles With Up To 100% Bonus
Through June 11, 2023, the Flying Blue program is selling miles with up to a 100% bonus. The bonus miles are tiered as follows based on the ‘Explorer’ level:
- Purchase 4,000 to 10,000 miles and receive a 50% bonus
- Purchase 12,000 to 22,000 miles and receive a 70% bonus
- Purchase 24,000 to 100,000 miles and receive a 100% bonus
Miles are sold in units of 2,000 miles up to 100,000 miles, and in units of 25,000 from 100,000 to 300,000 miles. Flying Blue Elite members may purchase an unlimited number of miles, while Explorer members may only purchase or receive up to 100,000 miles in any calendar year.
Since I am not a Flying Blue elite member, I am not sure how much the bonus elite members will receive so it is best to check your account if you are a Silver and above.
Buy Flying Blue Miles With Up To 50% Off
Another type of buy miles promotion members are receiving is discounts. Similar to the bonus miles promotion, the discounts are tiered as follows based on the ‘Explorer’ level:
- Purchase 4,000 to 10,000 miles and receive a 35% off
- Purchase 12,000 to 22,000 miles and receive a 40% off
- Purchase 24,000 to 100,000 miles and receive a 50%
The only disadvantage of this offer is that you will be only able to buy and receive 100,000 miles maximum, unlike the bonus offer which will entitle you to earn up to 200,000 miles.
How Much Does Flying Blue Miles Cost
Generally, Flying Blue sells miles at US$63.40 for a block of 2,000 miles, which is around 3.17 cents each. But during this bonus promotion, you can buy up to 200,000 miles at a rate as low as 1.52 cents each (Based on Explorer status).
Both the bonus and discount offers have the same rate per point.
Redeeming Flying Blue Miles
Flying Blue program is one of the most used programs among Skyteam members as it has great value when redeemed on Air France-KLM flights or partners. Specifically, it is the only way to redeem Air France’s exclusive La Première seats.
The program uses dynamic award pricing where the miles needed to redeem for flights vary depending on certain conditions. Flying Blue also offers promo rewards every month so you can take advantage of that offer to score a cheaper redemption.
For example, a one-way business class from Europe to the US on Air France costs as low as 55,000 miles plus tax. As the revenue ticket on the same route costs nearly US$3,000, with the buy miles promotion you can take nearly 4 flights at the same price.
