Hawaiian Airlines Supposed to Receive B787s Back in 2021
Initially, the airline was supposed to receive the first B787 back in early 2021 but due to the pandemic and the issues with B787s, there were significant delays with the deliveries and finally, after three years of long wait, the first two aircraft will be joining the fleet.
Hawaiian Airlines Boeing B787-9 Cabins
Hawaiian Airlines ordered 12 B787-9s which will be sequentially delivered late this year with the first aircraft expected to enter service in early 2024.
The B787-9s Dreamliner will feature 300 seats in total: 34 Business Class Suites and 266 in Economy Class. The brand new aircraft will be the first time the airline will offer direct aisle on the Business Class cabin which is a huge passenger experience improvement.
The 34 suites are set in a 1-2-1 configuration with doors manufactured by Adient Aerospace. The suites offer extra privacy or a shared experience, with combined double seats creating a head-to-head bed that is great for couples.
The new Business Class suites are very similar to Qatar Airways Business Class suites that are installed on its B787-9s. Hawaiian was supposed to be the launch customer for this seat but Qatar has snatched it. It was also revealed by American Airlines that will introduce a modified version of this suite on its upcoming B787-9s in 2024.
Hawaiian has named the new Business Class Suite: Leihōkū, which means ‘garland of stars’ with fully lie-flat seating, an 18-inch in-flight entertainment screen, personal outlets, and a wireless charging dock.
Hawaiian Airlines just revealed the details of its first Boeing B787-9 flight which will be set on April of 2024. The first B787 will be delivered in a couple of months and the airline is expecting all 12 B787 orders to be delivered by 2027.
Hawaiian Airlines will be initially operating flights between Hawaii and the West Coast until it receives enough aircraft to operate on international routes.
