Late this April, Hyatt announced its plans to acquire Mr. & Mrs. Smith which the deal has now closed and Hyatt taking charge of the platform.
Hyatt Acquires Mr. & Mrs. Smith
Before going through the details of IHG and Mr. & Mrs. Smith’s partnership, here is a detail on Hyatt’s acquisition of the luxury booking platform. In April, Hyatt announced an agreement for a Hyatt affiliate to acquire a London-based company for an enterprise value of £53.0 million in cash consideration.
For context, Mr. & Mrs. Smith is a platform offering direct booking access to a carefully curated and growing collection of over 1,500 boutique and luxury properties in some of the world’s most desirable locations. Back in 2020, IHG launched a partnership to offer members the chance to earn and redeem points on stays.
IHG One Rewards – Mr. & Mrs. Smith Partnership Ends
With Hyatt now taking over Mr. & Mrs. Smith’s platform, the Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) has officially announced partnership has officially ended. Effective immediately:
- IHG One Rewards no longer accepts bookings for stays at Mr. & Mrs. Smith’s properties
- If you already have an upcoming reservation confirmed, your booking will not be affected and you will still be eligible to earn points on the stay
I have booked and stayed at Mr. & Mrs. Smith’s properties a couple of times past year as it offers a wide range of boutique hotels around the world. While I was not eligible for the elite tier benefits during my stay, the hotels still offered some perks.

World Of Hyatt – Mr. & Mrs. Smith Partnership
While Mr. & Mrs. Smith partnered up with the World Of Hyatt program, I don’t think there will be major changes for the members. In fact, it will be somehow managed similarly to Hyatt’s ‘Small Luxury Hotels of the World’ portfolio.
We will still wait and see how the properties are categorized but I expect that members will be able to earn and redeem points and stays.
Summary
Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) and Mr. & Mrs. Smith have officially ended their partnership and all bookings will be unavailable to make through IHG One Rewards effective immediately. Since there have not been further updates by World of Hyatt, we will need to wait and see how the program be integrated.
