For those who want to reach IHG One Reward’s elite status faster, adding a bonus points package on your stay could do the trick.
IHG One Rewards Bonus Points Package

The bonus points package is very useful on a stay consisting of long nights as it offers between 1,000 to 5,000 bonus points per night. These points are offered as “elite qualifying points” that can be earned to reach IHG One Rewards Gold, Platinum and Diamond status.
If you visit IHG’s website, you will be given two options for buying points:
- Stock up for travel
- Level up your tier
The former buy points offer is the usual points that do not count towards your elite qualification points and can only be redeemable on free night awards. However, the latter allows you to earn both redeemable points and elite qualifying points.

When you access the promotion website, the second option tells you to add up to 5,000 points per night and use both as either redeeming a free night and as elite qualifying. Keep in mind that you have to book the most flexible rate to unlock the offer.
Here are the steps on how you can choose the bonus points package on your booking:

Here are some of the samples of how many elite qualifying points you will earn by adding a bonus points package.

Once you have chosen the hotel you want to stay in, you have to book flexible rates which allow you to cancel the booking without penalty. For example, for the booking shown above, the rates with “Free cancellation” will be eligible to add on bonus points package.
As you select the rate, a window will pop up showing the option of how many bonus points you would like to add per night.

By choosing the bonus points, you can complete to booking with the “IHG One Rewards BONUS POINTS” rate on the final page. The estimated point earned will show the number of base points only so you can separately add the daily bonus points on top of the base point earned.

Summary
IHG One Rewards’ “Bonus Points” package is a very useful add-on as the points purchased will count as elite qualifying points, allowing you to earn elite status much faster.
For example, an IHG One Diamond Elite requires 120,000 points, if you buy 5,000 points for a four-night stay, that would be already 20,000 points. Also, you will be earning a separate base and elite bonus therefore, in this way, you can virtually fast-track to top-tier status quicker.
