It is almost the end of the year and IHG One Rewards is back with its status challenge offer. IHG had been consistently offering status challenges throughout the year and this will likely be the last challenge for this year.
With this challenge, when completed, members can keep the tier until the end of 2023.
Stay 5 nights to earn Platinum Elite
Through December 31, 2022, members who register for the Platinum Elite status challenge program, and stay 5 nights at any IHG properties, will be automatically upgraded to the Platinum Elite tier through December 2023.
Stay 2 nights to earn Gold Elite
In addition, members who register for this challenge will need to stay 2 nights to be a Gold Elite member through December 2023. The requirements are similar to the Platinum Elite challenge but with only two nights.
On this promotion, there are some terms and conditions:
- Registration is mandatory.
- The “Promotion Eligible Qualifying Stays” must be with a room rate exceeding US$30 for each night.
IHG One Rewards Tiers
For context, IHG One Rewards has four tier levels with the Club as its basic tier up to Diamond Elite, its highest tier.
Generally, the Platinum Elite tier can be achieved pretty easily. If you enroll in Intercontinental’s Ambassador program by paying US$200 or redeeming 40,000 points, you will be automatically entitled to be a Platinum Elite member.
Instant Matching To Diamond Elite (Now Dead)
Last Friday, IHG One Rewards sent a targeted email where certain members from the industry were eligible to instantly upgrade to Diamond Elite Tier. This caused a lot of members to be converted to the Diamond tier. Unfortunately, it caught the attention of the IHG team and the status matching is no longer available.
This certainly upset some of the current Diamond Elite members who paid for 70 nights to reach this tier.
IHG One Rewards is offering a status challenge through December 31, 2022. Members can choose either to challenge the Gold or Platinum tier by only staying 2 or 5 nights by the end of the year. The tier achieved through the status challenge will be valid until the end of next year.
