This morning, I received a “Welcome Back” email from IHG One Rewards. They specifically mentioned my welcome back to business travel and offered me a special offer. I guess this is an invitation email target to any IHG One Rewards member who stayed in one of the properties around the world for a long absence.
10,000 bonus points seem to be less but you can definitely use them on the Points + Cash rate where the lowest points needed is 5,000 points.
So by staying twice and receiving bonus points, you can either stay one free night at IHG’s budget-friendly hotels such as Holiday Inn Express or two nights on a Points + Cash Rate at a much higher category hotel. Here is an example at Intercontinental Saigon where my parents stayed last week.
As you can see the Points + Cash rate at Intercontinental Saigon starts from 6,000 + $129 whereas the actual rate cost $185, saving you around $60 for a night.
About IHG One Rewards:
IHG One Rewards is my third favorite hotel rewards program after Marriott Bonvoy and World of Hyatt. Recently, IHG changed its rewards program to be much better than the former. There are five tiers in IHG One Rewards:

There are no significant benefits until the Gold Elite tier but as you reach Platinum Elite and above, you will benefit from Reward Night Discounts, room upgrades, early check-in and receive welcome amenities during your stay.
In addition to these tiers and benefits, you can also purchase an Intercontinental Ambassador status by paying US$200 or 40,000 points where you receive a direct Platinum Elite status and more perks. In my opinion, Intercontinental Ambassador status is valuable to those who frequently stay at Intercontinental hotels and its brands around the world as there are added benefits.
