Introduction: Exciting First Trip Of The Year

Happy New Year to Airlinesandme readers! A new year just kicked off and I will be reviewing more and more travel reviews soon. To celebrate the new year, I have pulled off the first trip of 2023 which will take me to the country I always wanted to visit, Jordan.

Celebrating New Year At Jordan

Jordan is a country that is on my bucket list. I continuously planned to visit this amazing country but I had not enough time as I love to stay in one country for less than 2 days. It will definitely be a great opportunity to experience this new country celebrating 2023.

First of all, since I am currently in Seoul, Korea, I had three flight options: Etihad, Emirates and Qatar Airways which could conveniently connect me to Amman, Jordan via their Middle East hubs. However, since I will be traveling with a couple of people who will be meeting me in Jordan, I chose Qatar Airways as it arrives similar time to theirs.

These flights will be full-fare tickets since the Avios requirements are always double when departing from Seoul. I paid around US$800 for a one-way trip to Amman and possibly upgrade the flight at the airport.

I frequently fly to Doha, Qatar using Qatar Airways’ B777, I will be reviewing if there are service changes. I have not reviewed recent A320 flights on Qatar Airways so stay tuned for the review.

Hotels I Will Be Reviewing At Jordan

Amman, unfortunately, will be our other connecting city as we will be heading straight down to the Dead Sea area which is around 4 hour drive and has great resort-style hotels such as Marriott, Holiday Inn and Kempinski.

Hotels in the Dead Sea area are reasonably priced with packaged rates. Marriott or Intercontinental properties cost around US$150 per night up to US$300 for Kempinski. But as I said, the price will be worth the stay.

As a Marriott Bonvoy elite, I am thinking of Marriott hotels but Kempinski is on our list too. Since I always decide last minute, you will probably find out on my social media where I end up staying.😁

A Day Trip To Wadi Rum

Wadi Rum is one of my bucket lists to be and if the weather is forgiving, we are planning to visit this beautiful nature reserve. Wadi Rum is famous for some of the space fiction movies like Martian or Red Planet due to its unique environment similar to Mars.

Wadi Rum does not have luxury hotels as it is in the middle of the desert. It has hundreds of tent or bubble-style glamping sites. I think it will be great to spend time under nothing to escape the hustle and bustle of city life.

First Time On Wizz Air Abu Dhabi

Another exciting flight I will be taking will be Wizz Air. Wizz Air is a low-cost carrier based in Hungary but the company opened a base in the UAE in 2019. Since then, it has been expanding its routes from its hub in Abu Dhabi to 27 destinations.

I have flown Wizz Air when I was traveling in the EU a few years back so it will be another great flight to review these interesting airlines. Wizz Air currently serves to the city of Aqaba, south of Amman, near the Dead Sea.

I will be taking a flight to Abu Dhabi, UAE where I paid US$140 which was quite a steal given the fares on Middle East destinations are quite high. My Wizz Air fare includes advance seat selections, checked baggage and priority.

I am excited to kick off 2023 by visiting Jordan, which has been on my bucket list for years. It won’t be a long trip but a few days in this beautiful country will be memorable especially when you travel with others on a road trip.

After our visit to Jordan, there will be more trips following and I will be uploading stories on my social media during the trip with reviews of my trips in detail coming soon.
