Aer Lingus AerClub Offers 50% Off Avios On Cash Redemptions
Through today, October 16, 2022, AerClub members can snag any flight booked on Aerlingus.com or on the Aer Lingus app for 50% fewer Avios. The promotion only last 72 hours and is live now.
The terms and conditions are as below:
- The discount option will depend on Avios balance and the total cost of the journey.
- The 50% discount is only valid on bookings made between the 14 and 16 October 2022 on aerlingus.com and on the Aer Lingus app.
- The 50% off discount will be applied directly on the portion of the flight paid with Avios, either partial or full redemption.
Confusion With This Flash Sale
Keep in mind that the wording is a little confusing. The flash sale seems to be a 50% discount on full Avios redemption but this offer is on cash redemption paid in Avios.
For example, a €29.99 fare usually costs 4,725 Avios. However, during this flash sale, AerClub members can book that flight for just 2,363 Avios. They can also use your Avios to pay for all or just some cost of the flight, including seats and bags. The advantage of this promotion is the ability to earn Avios and Tier Credits on flights.
A one-way business class on Aer Lingus costs around 2,673euros. If you fully purchase this using Avios it will cost around 210,000 Avios and lesser when purchased partially. The point is you don’t have to wait for empty award availability as this is considered as full fare ticket.
So with the cash and Avios redemption option, members are able to save more by paying with Avios. Considering that nearly 5,000 Avios costs around 100euros, thats 0.02euros per Avios. But with this promotion, the reate will drop to 0.012euros per Avios.
Based on a full redemption, it might not be a good rate by using Avios on cash redemption but on long haul routes, it’s worth considering.
