Lufthansa Reveals More Details On New Business Class Seats

Lufthansa Reveals More Details On New Business Class Seats

It has been an exciting day for Lufthansa fans as the airline has announced details on the new business class seats that the airline announced in late 2017. In addition, the airline also revealed a new first class suite that will debut on the Airbus A350.

Lufthansa’s “Allegris” Product Generation

Premium and quality products have always been Lufthansa’s promise to its passenger. With this, the airline exclusively developed a product that will offer new seats and new travel experiences in all classes on long-haul routes.

Details On Lufthansa’s Brand New Business Class Seats

With Lufthansa revealing what’s called “Allegris” products, new details about the business class suites are also announced. The new Business Class of the “Allegris” generation will offer direct aisle semi-private seats. Also, the seat walls will be at least 114cm high, with generous space in the shoulder area, ensuring greater privacy. The seats will be in an alternate layout meaning they will be in a 1-2-1 and 1-1-1 mixed configuration.

All the business class seats can be converted into a two-meter-long bed with 17-inch inflight entertainment screens. Wireless charging, noise-canceling headphones and Bluetooth connectivity with a PC, tablet, smartphone, or headphones, to the entertainment system, will also be offered.

Unfortunately, further details and innovations on the new business class seats will be announced next spring. It is quite frustrating to wait nearly five years to know about the technical overview of the seat and wait several months more to know the full details.

In my opinion, the seats, except for the throne seating, look identical to some airlines like United’s Polaris seats. That is the reason why I cannot find the new business class seats innovative as airlines nowadays are researching newer seat designs. Lufthansa’s introduction of the newer seat is really late compared to the trend.

Lufthansa’s Brand New Business Class Suite

On the first row of the business class seat, Lufthansa is eyeing to introduce a business class suite. This so-called suite will offer even more comfort and privacy due to higher walls and sliding doors that completely close. Passengers can also enjoy extended personal space, a 27-inch monitor, and more storage space, including a personal wardrobe.

Having a separate business class suite is getting common nowadays. Virgin Atlantic also revealed a front-row suite called “Retreat Suite” a couple of months ago on its A300-900neos. Not only Virgin Atlantic, American Airlines too, will possibly introduce a suite instead of a real first class seat.

Which Lufthansa Aircraft Will Feature The New Business Class Seats

Lufthansa’s new business class seats and suites will launch in mid-2023. Currently, brand-new Airbus A350s and Boeing B787-9s deliveries will feature these seats. First class seats on Boeing B747-8s will be retrofitted but the details of retrofitting business class are not yet confirmed. But I am pretty sure when the first class is retrofitted, the business cabin will also be refreshed.

Summary

Lufthansa today has revealed a brand new business class seat. Furthermore, the airline also intended to introduce a premium business class seat on the first row of the cabin. But the details released today were not all and we have to wait until next spring to know further details about the cabin.

I think it is quite time-consuming to know about a new product given that the first detail was announced back in 2017. So it has been five years of a wait but Lufthansa wants us to wait further a few months more to know the possible final details about the new “Allegro” generation products.
