Lufthansa Deal: Amsterdam – Bogota: From €2,950 or $3,133

Lufthansa Group’s South America deal has offered great first class fares and this deal has been showing up from time to time. And as of now, it is once again back where you could travel from Europe to South America for $3,133 round-trip on Lufthansa’s first class.

While the fare consists of flights on Lufthansa from Amsterdam to Bogota in the first class cabin. I am also seeing a combination of SWISS first class flights connecting with Avianca from New York and returning with Lufthansa. The pricing I am seeing is as low as €2,954 or around $3,133.

Here are some of the dates and routes operated:

  • Travel Dates: May 2023 thru October 2023
  • Fare Class: J/A(Business/First)
    • Amsterdam(AMS) – Frankfurt(FRA): Lufthansa
    • Frankfurt(FRA) – Bogota(BOG): Lufthansa

And below is a route by SWISS/Lufthansa/Avianca

  • Travel Dates: May 2023 thru October 2023
  • Fare Class: J/A/H(Business/First/Economy Plus)
    • Amsterdam(AMS) – Zurich(ZRH): SWISS
    • Zurich(ZRH) – New York(EWR): SWISS
    • New York(JFK) – Bogota(BOG): Avianca

The only problem when booking the SWISS/Avianca combination is that you would need to transfer the airport from Newark to New York JFK within four hours in the evening. If the connection time is risky, you could add a stopover in New York too.

Lufthansa Group flights are mostly operated by Airbus A330/A340 however, you can also try out Lufthansa’s B747 to Buenos Aires too.

Here are the pricings I have found:

Amsterdam(AMS) – Bogota(BOG) – €2,954/$3,133 round-trip (Lufthansa operated)

Amsterdam(AMS) – Bogota(BOG) – €2,972/$3,147 round-trip (SWISS/Lufthansa/Avianca operated)

Amsterdam(AMS) – Bogota(BOG) – €3,097/$3,279 round-trip (Lufthansa/Avianca operated)

Fare rules and conditions for the above itineraries(Based on Lufthansa-operated itinerary):

  • Rebooking (Outbound)
    • The First ticket can be rebooked. The originally paid ticket amount will be credited against the new ticket except the 410 EUR rebooking fee. And for rebooking, the original fare must be still available, the flightㅣsequence must be unchanged and changes must be made before departure of the originally scheduled flight.
  • Rebooking (Inbound)
    • Similar conditions apply to the inbound rebooking as well except the travel must commence before the original departure date.

The flights need to be booked from Lufthansa/SWISS website as third-party websites such as Google Flights do not show the fares.

Earning Star Alliance Miles From Lufthansa/SWISS flights

The above itineraries are booked under A and J classes with the exception when using Avianca (H Class). With the “A” fare, you can earn from 150% to 300% of the miles flown and with the “J” fare between 125% up to 200%.

Therefore, with the above fares, you will be able to earn anywhere between 17,626 miles to 61,578 miles if you take the Buenos Aires route. The Buenos Aires route is Lufthansa’s longest route and is operated by B747-8 so this will be your chance to fly one of the longest B747 routes.

Keep in mind that there are only a few first class seats available throughout the year so if you have travel plans to South America and would like to experience Lufthansa’s first class, I would recommend booking the flight as soon as possible.
