Due to website migration issues, the majority of my travel posts and reviews are still buried on my previous platform. So I have decided to recover them one by one from time to time as an Archive Sunday Series. On today’s Archive Sundays Series: My first Holiday Inn property visit which happened to be in Buenos Aires, Argentina a few years back.
A Short Connection in Argentina:
I was arriving in Buenos Aires from Frankfurt early morning with Lufthansa and was connecting to American Airlines to Dallas in the same evening. I was planning just to put my bags in the hotel room and go sightseeing as this was my first time in Argentina. As I was looking for a hotel with a day room rate, only Holiday Inn offered 12 hours of day use with reasonable pricing.
Back in the days, I was only loyal to SPG and Marriott properties so I tend to ignore IHG hotels as I found the member’s benefits were really weak. This choice made me entry into the world of the IHG Rewards Club Program.
About Holiday Inn Buenos Aires Ezeiza Airport:
Holiday Inn Ezeiza Airport was built in 2012 and this seven-story building houses 114 rooms and suites. It is the tenth IHG property in Argentina along with Intercontinental, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn Express.
Holiday Inn Ezeiza Airport is located 7.5 miles or 12km from Ezeiza International Airport and is easily reachable by taxis and Ubers. It took me around 10 minutes to get to the hotel from the arrivals gate. It is specifically designed for business and leisure travelers in need of a full-service lodging experience or those who have a long connecting time between airlines.
The hotel features several restaurants, an on-site fitness center and spa, a convention center and an outdoor swimming pool. The airport shuttle service is also available 24 hours running every 60 minutes.
Since the hotel is built near the highway on the way to downtown Buenos Aires, it took me less than 30 minutes. There are not many views near the hotel but once you enter the downtown area, you’ll be able to see a lot of interesting things around.
Booking Holiday Inn Ezeiza Airport:
As I was only looking for a day room, I did not book any hotel before departing Frankfurt. So once I land and got my bags in Argentina, I was checking if any hotels nearby the airport offered these rates.
I found there was Holiday Inn nearby the airport and checked the IHG’s booking website but it did not have the rates available. So I called the hotel reception and one of the staff member gladly helped me that there are websites called dayroom.com or dayuse.com that allowed guests to book a day use rate.
I searched through the website and found great pricing for 12 hours of use as, by 9 PM, I had to check in for my flight to Dallas. The nightly hotel rates can spike up to US$150 but for my day room, it cost me less than one-third.
Checking-In at Holiday Inn Ezeiza Airport:
I arrived at the hotel around 8 AM, so there was no line for check-in. I showed the booking confirmation for my day use till 9 PM and the check-in took less than 5 minutes and I was given the key to my room which was assigned to room 505.
Holiday Inn Ezeiza Airport 2 Double Standard Room:
The 2 Double Standard Room features 30sqm or 322sqft in size with two double beds and a relatively wide bathroom with a bathtub. The condition of the room was fine and kept clean. It was a standard “Holiday Inn” styled room that you can find around the world.
I took a quick shower and catch a short nap before exploring the city in the afternoon. I cannot say it is superior accommodation but everything was working fine in the room and it is pleasant for me to stay during my connection.
Holiday Inn Ezeiza Airport Restaurants and Other Facilities:
I did not experience other restaurants and facilities in the hotel but based on some reviews, guests love the indoor spa pool and local restaurant called El Mangrullo. There is a separate outdoor pool as well as a fitness center on the ground floor opposite the entrance.
While I cannot define my stopping by Holiday Inn Ezeiza Airport as a stay as I just took a shower and had a quick nap before visiting the city, this was my first ever visit to IHG properties and my entry to IHG Rewards Club, now renamed as IHG ONE Rewards.
Location-wise, the hotel is in between the airport and the city so I did not rush going back and forth. But in the afternoon, there was rush hour traffic getting out of the city. I spend an exciting time in the city, visiting and dining at different famous venues.
Now, being an IHG Ambassador Elite member, I am definitely visiting Argentina again to stay and review different IHG properties around the city.
