Airlines have been offering amazing purchased points deals recently and today Air Canada Aeroplan launched the latest promotion on purchased points.

About Air Canada Aeroplan Program
Air Canada’s Aeroplan program had a long complicated history in the past until 2020. Air Canada and Aeroplan were separate programs and in 2017, the contract renewal broke down making the airline go on separate paths but then Air Canada made a bid to buy Aeroplan.
The pull and push with Air Canada and Aeroplan concluded when the airline completed to over and acquire Aeroplan in 2019. And in 2020, the current Air Canada Aeroplan program has born. Aeroplan program has six tiers and the elite tiers are achieved after earning the published miles and spending rates.
I guess the only downside is the Status Qualifying Dollars requirements as starting this year non-Canadian residents also need to meet those requirements, unlike United which waives the spending requirements for non-US residents.

I am a big fan of the Aeroplan program as it offers a generous stopover policy when redeeming points. I have booked numerous first and business class awards with Aeroplan on Lufthansa and Thai Airways.
Earning Aeroplan Points
Aeroplan points are usually earned by flying with Air Canada but as I do not have much opportunity to fly with them, so most of the time, I transfer my credit card reward points to Aeroplan to redeem on Star Alliance partners.

Aeroplan points expire if the account is inactive for 18 months but a single transaction where you fly, purchase or redeem will prevent the points from expiring.

Aeroplan Selling Points With 85% Bonus
From September 29 thru October 9, 2022, Aeroplan members purchasing miles will receive the following bonuses:
- Purchase between 5,000 ~ 29,000 points, members will receive a 50% bonus
- Purchase between 30,000 ~ 55,000 points, members will receive a 95% bonus
- Purchase 60,000 ~500,000 points, members will receive an 85% bonus
Air Canada Aeroplan Points Pricing
Aeroplan normally sells points for CAD$0.035 each and has a maximum purchase limit of 500,000 per calendar year excluding bonuses.
And with this bonus points promotion, when you buy 500,000 points, you will receive a total of 925,000 points for CA$17,500. This sounds like a lot of points and money to be paid but still, you are able to buy points for CA$0.0138 each.

Redeeming Aeroplan Points
Aeroplan points can be redeemed on Air Canada flights and of course all Star Alliance partners. But what made the Aeroplan program attractive is its ability to redeem award seats on some non-star alliance partners such as Etihad, Gulf Air and Oman Air.

There are a couple of advantages why Aeroplan is among my favorites:
- Aeroplan does not charge fuel taxes on award redemptions.
- A stopover is allowed on one-way booking for just 5,000 points additional.
- The redemption rate is based on a combination of zone and distance.
I frequently redeemed Lufthansa First Class seats from the Americas to Asia in the past just for 140,000 points.

Summary
Air Canada’s Aeroplan program is offering up to an 85% bonus on purchased miles. With this promotion, members can receive up to 925,000 points for CA$0.0138 per point. Aeroplan is one of my favorite frequent flyer programs to redeem on over 40 different airliners. So this offer is likely to be great when you plan to travel on airlines such as Lufthansa in first class.
