Just in time for the peak Eid holiday, Qatar Airways has unveiled the opening of three new lounges at its hub at Doha Hamad International Airport. The new lounges are named Platinum, Gold, and Silver lounges. and they are especially for Privilege Club loyalty and Oneworld alliance elite members.
These state-of-the-art lounge facilities, with stunning tarmac views, will provide a peaceful sanctuary to Qatar Airways Privilege Club Platinum, Gold and Silver, and Oneworld Emerald and Sapphire members.
Qatar Airways Platinum Lounge South
Located on concourse A of Hamad International Airport, Qatar Airways Platinum Lounge South will be accessible to Privilege Club Platinum members and Oneworld Emerald members. The new Platinum Lounge accommodates up to 140 passengers and is equipped with a quiet area, a prayer room, a bar, a restaurant, and showers. With à la carte dining and buffets provided at the restaurant.
Qatar Airways Gold Lounge South
Next, we have the Gold Lounge. It is located on concourse A as well and accessible to Privilege Club Gold members and Oneworld Sapphire Members. The Gold lounge has the capacity to accommodate up to 85 passengers and offers family seating, a bar, a dining area, a full buffet dining experience, showers, and more.
Qatar Airways Silver Lounge South
Lastly, the Silver Lounge. It is located on concourse B and accessible to Privilege Club Silver loyalty members only. The Silver Lounge opened in March 2022 and accommodates up to 195 passengers, offering meeting rooms, a family area, a quiet area, buffet dining, and more.
Qatar Airways Old Business(Sapphire) and First Class(Emerald) Lounge
Qatar Airways previously had Business and First lounges by the duty-free plaza south which were accessible for Privilege Club and Oneworld elites. While I cannot confirm the current status of those lounges, with the new opening of the Platinum, Gold and Silver Lounges, I assume they will be converted for other use.
Other Qatar Airways Lounges at Hamad International Airport
Other than the three new lounges, there is Qatar Airways Al Safwa First Class Lounge, Al Mourjan Business Class Lounge, Al Maha(A Priority Pass Lounge), and Oryx lounges. There is even a separate lounge dedicated to unaccompanied minors and Mariner Lounge for seafarers and offshore workers.
Qatar Airways is a little picky about the lounge access policy for Al Mourjan Business Class Lounge and Al Safwa First Class Lounge. Al Safwa Lounge is accessible to Qatar Airways First Class ticketed customers and Privilege Club Platinum members traveling on full fare Qatar Airways Business class. While the policy for Al Mourjan Lounge is still confusing as both Qatar Airways and Oneworld elite were permitted up until now.
However, with the introduction of the new lounges, I think there will be restrictions on entering Al Mourjan Lounge as the Oneworld elite.
Qatar Airways lounges in Doha tend to get overcrowded during peak departure hours so it is nice to see more lounges opening in the airport to disperse the passenger capacity. While this might be a positive side, it could be a disappointment for Oneworld elites as entry to the much larger and more comfortable Al Mourjan Lounge can be restricted.
