The largest airline in Northern Europe, SAS Scandinavian just launched a promotion with discounts on flights originating from North America to Scandinavian and Europe.
SAS has been in a tough situation after the Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing and is currently in the process of reconstruction which will take around nine to 12 months. But the airline continues to show a strong presence in Northern Europe with seven direct flights to the US and dozens of European cities.
SAS Scandinavian Flight As Low As US$391

Through October 31, 2022, SAS is offering cheap fares from the US or Canada to Europe when booking a round trip. The return flights cost as low as US$396 depending on the destination.
The booking must be made by end of October and the travel date must be between December 1, 2022, thru May 31, 2023. SAS even generously provided a low-fare chart on each departing and arriving city on its website.
Here is a sample fare on flights originating from New York City to European cities:

The fare above represents the lowest fare available which is the SAS “Go Light” fare. The Light fare is equivalent to the ‘Basic Economy’ class with limited services.

SAS Scandinavian Economy Class Seating
Since the promotion is based on economy class, I will explain the features of economy seats. The airline somehow has a reasonable economy class product both on its short and long-haul fleets.
I have never flown on long-haul routes but made a few intra-European flights with it in the past and had no issues yet. Although the seats are rather compact with standard 31-32 inches of pitch and 17.3 inches wide, the services on board were not bad as you think.

Earning Points & Miles With SAS Scandinavian
SAS has its frequent flyer program called SAS EuroBonus but this program is only great when you fly a heavy load on SAS yearly. There are four tiers: Member, Silver, Gold and Diamond, and the elite tier can be reached by either a certain amount of flights or points.
Given that the Go Light fare will earn 400 points on a round-trip flight, you would need to fly 50 times to reach the silver tier which I don’t see the value of. This specific fare will be under T class which will earn at least 50% when credited to United Airlines’ MileagePlus program.
Summary
SAS Scandinavian launched a promotion until the end of this month offering discounted economy class tickets on flights originating from North America.
The discounted economy fare will not be eligible to earn many points and miles on its own frequent flyer program or Star Alliance partner program, a round-trip ticket costing just US$390 is a great fare to travel on a budget.
