Surveillance footage has just been revealed showing TSA agents stealing from passengers and they were quite fearless in pulling out the theft.
TSA Agents Steal From Passengers at Security Screening Point
While the incident occurred back on June 29, 2023, the security video evidence was just released by the Miami-Dade County State Attorney’s office. Specifically, it involves three former Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents at Miami International Airport’s Concourse E security checkpoint.
The three former TSA agents were charged with an organized scheme to defraud by stealing from airline passengers as they sent luggage through x-ray screening. You can check out the video below about how they were stealing at the security checkpoint.
The theft happened mostly when passengers placed all of their carry-on belongings in the bins for X-ray screening. This is a vulnerable time as passengers will be moving to queue to pass through the metal detector.
The video footage shows the TSA agents stealing items in two separate cases. There are reports mentioning cash equivalent to $800 and $600 were stolen in each case. This is the only time they were found on the footage so no one knows how many times they did this.

It is quite brave for the three of them to steal items with a lot of travelers around and CCTVs. While not all TSA agents are like those three, there could be some agents who may think negatively as we have also seen baggage handles stealing items from checked baggage.
Based on studies, TSA was not able to catch prohibited or concealed items in some cases since they had to deal with thousands of passengers and their belongings every day. This could cause stress to the agents and sometimes this could lead to low morale making agents vulnerable to make wrong choices.
