With the launch of a partnership between Qatar Airways and Virgin Australia, both airlines are offering promotions on new flight bookings.
Qatar Airways is offering double Avios promotion when booking and flying Virgin Australia. At the same time, Virgin Australia is also offering three different promotions for its frequent flyer members.
Save Up to $150 in Economy and $500 in Business Class
The first promotion from Virgin Australia is Velocity members can save up to AUD$150 when booking economy class round trip tickets or up to AUD$500 on business class tickets. Tickets must be booked through October 12, 2022, and the travel must commence by March 31, 2023.
Travelers must start their journey from one of six Australian cities Qatar Airways is flying to: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Canberra.

3 Million Reasons to Fly with Qatar Airways
The second promotion Virgin Australia is, as the headline says, winning 3 million Velocity points.
Between September 7 thru December 31, 2022, all you need to do is visit here to enter a draw. Three lucky winners will be contacted on January 18, 2023, and receive 1 million Velocity points each.
Bonus Points For Velocity Members
The last of the three offers is earning bonus points based on Virgin Australia’s Velocity tiers. Velocity members who travel on Qatar Airways-operated flights with a Virgin Australia flight number will earn bonus points on top of their Base Points.
- Velocity Silver members will earn 50% bonus points
- Velocity Gold members will earn 75% bonus points

Redeeming Virgin Australia Velocity Points
Virgin Australia uses a distance-based system when redeeming Velocity Points on flights.
Members can redeem Velocity Points on Virgin Australia, Virgin Atlantic, United Airlines, Etihad, Air Canada, Singapore Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, South African Airways and of course, Qatar Airways.
The number of Points needed to redeem varies by the distance of flight or else it is divided into 10 zones. The chart below shows the required Velocity Points when flying Virgin Australia, Virgin Atlantic or United Airlines.
The taxes and fees for Virgin Australia start from AUD$16.95 while the fees on Virgin Atlantic and United vary by destination.
